Academic Affairs at West Virginia State University welcomes you to our website and to the 20 undergraduate majors and two graduate programs that are offered. We take considerable pride in our small classes, low student-faculty ratios, and the diversity that makes WVSU a “living laboratory of human relations.” Faculty are involved in a variety of efforts to bring the classroom and the community closer together. They are well trained; over two thirds of our faculty hold the terminal degree in their field.
WVSU is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association. We hold additional national accreditation and/or certifications for our programs in Business Administration, Economics, Education, Chemistry, and Social Work. We embrace the belief expressed by Frederick Douglass: “By the power that is within you, do what you hope to do.”
